Adult sailing Courses for 2012
Learn to sail at the Indianapolis Sailing Club!
Classes are limited in size and are filling up quickly please reserve your spot ASAP!
The Indianapolis Sailing Club will be conducting adult training classes this summer. Our Learn to sail courses are designed to help new sailors achieve a high level of proficiency in handling small sailboats. The courses are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and all day on Saturday. Extensive on-the-water training augments the textbook, lectures, and videos. The initial on-the-water experiences are conducted in boats provided by ISC racing fleet members who volunteer their time and experience as training skippers. For the remaining classes the students will sail Club-owned Interlakes, Lasers, or Sunfish on their own. Instructors are focused on teaching boat rigging, basic sailing maneuvers, terminology, knot tying, right-of-way rules, and ad safety on the water. Also, basic instruction will be provided on the use procedures of the ISC Club boats.
Adult Training students must be a member of ISC in good standing. Fee for the Adult Sailing Training Course is $75 and is open to members in the family over 14 yrs of age. Any additional family members may sign up and take the courses for a reduced fee of $50.00.

See schedule on website which includes most Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings during the sailing season. Also, course graduates (and other beginners) are encouraged to crew for other club members during club races and eventually take our Basic Racing course to further reinforce sailing skills and gain confidence so that they can become active in our club races and regattas.
