Presidents Corner December is with us and soon we will be saying farewell to 2006 and welcoming 2007, with the hope that it will be a good year for us all. Of course it is a time when people look both back on the year past and forward to the next and it would not be in appropriate for us to do the same for IACEE. The highlight of the IACEE year was the 10th World Conference on Continuing Engineering Education, held last May in Vienna. It gave us all the opportunity to come together, renew old friendships, make new ones and enjoy the beauty of the city. As always it was interesting to learn about the diversity of activities and approaches to CEE. Thanks to all involved, and especially Franz Reichl. Early in 2007, at the ASEE annual Conference of Industry and Education Collaboration in Palm Springs, USA, there will be a meeting of the Executive Committee, which will enable us to explore and develop ideas to help the future of the organisation. I hope that as many members of the IACEE Council as possible will be able to attend. We will hear about plans for the 11 WCCEE, to be held in Atlanta in 2008, but two of the important items that I hope we can make some progress on are the development of the Associations www pages, through which I hope we will be able to offer improved information for members, and the development of an accreditation scheme. As always, I would like to encourage anybody with interests, thoughts and views about the organisation or who would like to contribute to the discussion to contact me. May I finish by sending my best wishes for a peaceful and successful 2007 to all IACEE members and readers of this newsletter.

SEFI CEE Working Group Meets in Norway The workshop was divided into three broad themes, New Requirements for Engineering Competences, Continuing Professional Development and Changing University Culture. Each of these themes was introduced by a keynote talk, which was then succeeded by some challenging inputs. These inputs each posed a question which was debated learning caf style. In this, the participants are grouped around tables and inject their ideas to form a collective picture of responses. These then are relayed and contrasted with those of others. The meeting showed that there is a increasing demand for well targeted, flexible, high quality CEE to support the CPD of individuals. The meeting was enjoyed by all and it is a pleasure to thank the NTNU host Frode Arnsteen for all his work in making the occasion stimulating enjoyable.
