President's Corner

You may well share my experience; as I get older time seems to speed up! Of course, I know it doesnt (!), but. was it really a year ago that I was writing a few words to be included with the December 2004 newsletter? Where has the year gone and has as much been achieved as we would have liked? I suspect that many have similar thoughts at this time of the year and the results are not always to our liking!

The important event for IACEE during the year was the Council meeting, which was held last May in Beijing. It gave those of us who gathered an opportunity to discuss issues facing the Association, to develop future plans for it. Early in 2006, at the time of the annual ASEE Conference of Industry and Education Collaboration, in San Antonio, Texas, there will be a meeting of the Executive Committee, which will enable us to develop ideas further. With a global spread of members it is not easy to get people together and it is important that we make every effort to maximise the opportunity for discussions. I would like to encourage anybody reading this newsletter who has thoughts and views about the organisation or who would like to contribute to the discussion to contact me within the next few weeks please.

A little later in 2006 the 10th WCCEE will be held in Vienna, on 19 21 April.

I hope that everybody has these dates noted in their diaries and is planning to be in Vienna, for what I hope will be an excellent conference. Always remember, it is not only the formal events that make for a successful conference, but also the informal ones where discussions can spark all kinds of new ideas or initiatives. Resources for travel are not always easy to find, so please start early with your planning to ensure you get there and to help make Vienna a memorable occasion. Full details about the conference will be found at the conference www site http://www.wccee2006.org/

Lastly, may I send seasons greetings and very best wishes for a peaceful and successful 2006 to all who read this newsletter.
